"In Repose" 20x24"
20x24” acrylic on raw, clear-primed canvas. Framed in solid walnut.
“In Repose” is inspired by the timeless beauty of Grand Teton National Park, a place where the mountains rise with quiet strength and the landscape feels both wild and serene. From the very beginning, I approached this painting differently than my usual mountain scenes. I allowed myself to work with loose, expressive strokes, letting the process unfold naturally without putting pressure on myself to achieve perfection. My only goal was to enjoy the act of creating and to find a sense of peace as I brought this iconic landscape to life on canvas.
Throughout the painting process, I experienced a deep sense of calm—even when I hit the inevitable “sticky” parts where the composition felt uncertain or unresolved. There were moments when I questioned whether I would ever release this piece, as it didn’t seem to be coming together the way I’d hoped. But I kept returning to it, trusting the process, and allowing myself to simply be present with the work. In the end, what emerged surprised me: this painting became one of my favorites, a testament to letting go of expectations and embracing the journey.
The title, “In Repose,” reflects the tranquil spirit I felt while painting it and the feeling I hope it brings to your space. To be in repose is to rest in a state of peacefulness and ease, and that is exactly the energy I aimed to capture-the gentle stillness you might experience gazing across a quiet lake at the Tetons, where time seems to slow and worries melt away.
I hope this piece offers you a daily reminder to pause, breathe, and find moments of calm amid life’s wildness. May it invite you to let go, even briefly, and settle into a sense of tranquility—just as I did while creating it.
The collector will receive complimentary shipping, arranged privately after purchase.
