I knew from the start that this painting would stand apart from my other mountain pieces—the water here shares the spotlight with the peaks. My goal was to capture that glassy, serene stillness you feel by a mountain lake, the kind that naturally slows your heart rate and invites you to pause.
As the first piece in the series, it set the tone for everything that followed: grand yet peaceful, encouraging you to slow down, breathe deeply, and let go of what’s weighing you down.
I worked on this painting in fits and starts, especially during my third trimester. Unlike my previous work, I didn’t feel rushed to finish; instead, I allowed myself to move at a slower pace, embracing the messy stages and letting the process unfold. Only when it was complete did I realize how perfectly the experience mirrored the painting’s meaning.
I hope this piece gives you that same sense of lightness and freedom—to let go of expectations and timelines, and to simply enjoy where you are right now.
